Steve

Personal Summary

Dr. Steve holds a Ph.D. in Business from the University of South Carolina and MBA and BS degrees from Virginia Tech. His areas of expertise include asymmetric information, announcement effects, capital structure, dividend policy, international finance and ethics. His teaching interests include markets and institutions, derivative securities, valuation, international finance, ethics and investments. Dr. Steve has been recognized with numerous teaching awards over the years for excellence in the classroom.

Dr. Steve’s academic work has been published in some of the leading business journals in the country including the Journal of Business, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial Research and others. He has also authored several textbook supplements in both markets and investments and regularly engages in consulting work with textbook publishers.

Ron Marasa

Personal Summary:

Dr. Ron completed the level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam and is the Faculty advisor for the CFA Challenge and the CSCB Bank Case competition.

Education:

Dr. Ron holds a BS degree in Industrial Management and Honors Economics from Purdue University (Indiana) and a Ph.D. in Finance from Penn State University. 

Teaching Exprience:

Dr. Ron has been a member of the College of Business faculty for 25+ years.  He has served on and/or chaired several local non-profit boards, including the Missoula Housing Corporation and Make-A-Wish Montana.

Mark Whitt

Mr. Mark graduated from University of Arizona in 1977, and obtained a bachelor's degree in economics in the same year. He is a licensed Forensic Certified Public Accountant (FCPA) in Arizona and California and a licensed International Certified Senior Accountant (ICSA). He has 20 years of business accounting experience, mainly providing guarantees, tax and business accounting and consulting services for listed companies and private companies.

Work Experience:

From 1985 to 2000, he served in the Los Angeles branch of KPMG Enterprise Consulting Company, one of the four major international accounting firms. His main responsibility was to advise the company's customers on mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, 10-K and 10-Q filings, and compliance with SEC and IRS regulations.

From 2002 to 2018, he worked on the Accounting Committee of National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), responsible for continuing professional education (CPE), company interactions of various sizes, proposing the company's current problem solutions and collecting company feedback.
