In-Depth Analysis of Amazon Australia's New Regulations on Electric Transport Equipment Accessories

Recently, Amazon Australia announced an important compliance notice for electric transport equipment accessories, stipulating that from March 2025, all electric transport equipment batteries, chargers, modification kits, and replacement batteries or chargers for modification kits sold on the platform must meet a series of stringent compliance requirements by March 13. This initiative aims to ensure that all listed products meet safety, environmental, and performance standards, thereby protecting consumer rights and improving the overall product quality on the platform.

Under the new regulations, relevant products must pass tests conducted by internationally or domestically accredited laboratories such as ISO 17025, NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia, despite the name containing "America," it is actually an Australian organization), or CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment) and obtain official test reports. These reports must clearly demonstrate that the products comply with local laws and regulations in Australia, industry standards, and specific requirements of the Amazon platform. This means that merchants must invest more resources in product testing and certification before submitting them for listing to ensure they meet high standards of safety and performance specifications.

Furthermore, the new regulations emphasize the accuracy and completeness of product information, requiring all related products to follow the information standard template of New South Wales, detailing product specifications, safety warnings, operating instructions, maintenance recommendations, and other content. This not only helps consumers make informed purchasing decisions but also provides a basis for smooth after-sales service.

It is worth noting that for products that fail to meet compliance requirements on time, Amazon Australia will take stringent measures, including but not limited to product delisting, store deductions, and even account bans. This serves as a wake-up call for merchants, reminding them to attach great importance to product compliance and avoid significant losses due to negligence.

In response to these new regulations, merchants should plan ahead, actively seek help from professional testing institutions to ensure their products can pass tests and obtain necessary certifications smoothly. At the same time, they should strengthen internal quality management and enhance employees' understanding and execution of compliance requirements to address various compliance challenges that may arise in the future.
